I think there's a reason the distributed electro-optical system and the APS radar are placed together.

It's likely that the APS and RWS are being operated jointly by the electro-optical & radar.

That means the radar can be turned off, only rely on electro-optical warnings for APS in silent mode, or both can be enabled simultaneously. The electro-optical system and radar can also control the RWS simultaneously.

This is not a fantasy. As far as I know, Israeli defense system developers are developing functions like APS radar-controlled RWS and electro-optical system-controlled APS, but they are not that integrated like this.

Not all vehicles as part of previous parades were green.

Some where in a similar pattern to the one we see now, like the ZTQ-15 and ZTZ-99A below e.g.:
Could the fact that the parade vehicles of the newest tanks/IFVs are painted in desert camouflage indicate that the first brigades receiving these units are geared for combat in desert biomes? If so, then could this be an reflection of where the central leadership believes the probability of future ground combat operations in a desert biome is relatively high? Which would be surprising, as one would assume the most probable military conflict that the PLA would be involved in would occur in a primarily coastal/tropical biome.

I mean, sure that could make sense though I think you're reading a bit too much into it.

Overall for the most important strategic directions of conflict the PLA is preparing for (high end westpac), ground warfare/AFVs would not be that important to begin with, so it would make sense that new AFVs won't be prioritized for units in those strategic directions or environments.
