Yes, it appears to be the case. Very different from normal PLA 105.
And note that (vise versa) gun(or at least gun cover) and sensor/fuze setter pair on one of the prototypes we saw last year was different.

Gun cover is much thicker and square. Sensor/setter is optical, not twin radio-, and has proper cover.
(Blitzo please don't hate me, it's just logic of the conversation!)
Is this turret a prototype or maybe like a swappable turret mod for this tank. Gun seems larger ngl

If your turtlebaka is designed this way and isn't just field repair shops' big mek's baby, you can fit APS and sensor heads on it.
Turtle tanks, same with Ukrainian brick works, are ultimately a desperate cry onto how horribly insufficient top, side and rear protection of modern tanks is.

Just had an entertaining thought, the best turtle tank design that incorporate APS: The original Leonardo Da Vinci tank!

Cope cage shaped like an cone that is affixed to the turret with the gun sticking out, APS sits at the top of the cone, it's millimeter wave radar sticks outside the cone.

But then I guess maybe rws is enough against FPVs so we won't see something as outlandish as this

There was an aforementioned heavy version of the Double Absurd. The picture you posted is likely just that. I’m seeing a larger LFP armor block(external, affixed?), the gun looks like a 125mm and the sensor brick on the barrel is different.

its also been mentioned that the heavy variant of the double absurd has possibly been cancelled in favor of a true blooded heavy to replace the Type99A. dont quote me on that.

Eh, the LFP armor block should be the same size but instead the side armor is less. The actual tank has side armor fully covering the tracks while the prototype's track stick out.1000103448.jpg

No, the old picture just features a more prominent barrel shroud than the parade version, thus making the gun seem larger. Its definitely the same gun. Judging from old pictures the frontal armor can be even further reinforced with add-on armor.

I'm pretty sure the one on the parade already have the addon armor, it just looks more obvious on the prototype because the side armor doesn't go all the way to the front like the production vehicles.

The foremost wedge shaped addon plate has a sharper angle compared to the parade version. The only reason they are not adding it is because its ugly as hell having a protruding chin.

That sounds like a awful reason to not include something, so hopefully they'll actually show off the addon armor. Or maybe it's the cancelled version?

If I return to the topic, if they specced a 105 mm they have their reasons.
6.45kg@1710m/s probably translates to higher performance than ZTZ99A shot.
Realistically it's enough, and if any nation will go for higher power MBT - as things stand, it's fallacy without advantages.
