Orca expresses hope that we’ll see something this year.

Seems like both Cute Orca and Ayi have made broadly similar points just two months ago:

Any clue about this?

Translation :
2011: When will we see the sixth gen fighter?
萌虎鲸: Month is the unit.
Besides Cute Orca Ayi was also implying something:

He seems to be implying there was 13 years between first flight of J-10 and J-20, and this year has been 13 years since first flight of J-20 so maybe we should expect something, some people in the thread are guessing 6th gen:

It seems a bit suspicious that the two of them are implying this at the same time, but then again those two are close friends so who knows.

If those hints and claims by the Co. are accurate - Do you think we would be seeing technology/concept demonstrators, or actual fighter/combat system prototypes?

IMO - but this is pure gut-feeling - more likely a demonstrator only! Maybe we'll get a glimpse of it at Zhuhai in November?

More like this but on repeat, lol.

I think we would be extremely lucky if they would even have one or few components and/or technological demos related to next-gen air combat systems displayed in this year's Expo.

Two concept illustrations of VLO designs. Not sure if they are manned or unmanned, so posting them here just in case.

This one shows the rear aspect (note the nozzle design):

The first pilot to ever take the J-20 into the skies, Li Gang, has stated that China's next-generation (warplane/fighter) will definitely come out (very) soon.

Very soon? The same "soon" we will get a glimpse of the new 004 aircraft carrier, the same "soon" the H-20 will be unveiled or the Indian way of "soon"?

But realistically, how soon could "soon" be in this case?

From the literal translation of the Chinese word, the same "soon" as the 004 CV(N) and H-20 from the NPC earlier this year.

TL; DR - Probably nothing big/new.

Although, having been (repeatedly) hinted by the likes of Cute Orca, Ayi and (indirectly) Yankee on the "China's 6th-gens to appear soon" recently, I think there is weight - Though the weight might be rather small to moderate as of present.

Hi,
soon can be like another 6/8 years, after USA six generation fully operational, another wild
guess once no more upgrade left over for J20s in near future probably the. We can see china
6th generation, by the way little off topic if it’s like 15/18 years of gap between USA and China
5th generation we might see 6th generation reducing the gap between 7/8 years
thank you
