I think engineering part is not that big of a problem with today's technology. But defending it is a big headache and might not worth all the resources put into it.

You don't need something like this against smaller/weaker countries, but those countries who are on par or stronger than you can destroy a fixed target like that much easier than a carrier. I think an aircraft carrier battle group is still much more practical and have much better flexibility than VLFP. I mean where are you suppose to built something like this at and not stir up trouble from every country around or near it.? :eek:

They probably wrapped the weapons with plastic wrap to prevent corrosion. A little tedious if you ask me. A light coat of a weapons grade oil will do the job.

True, but than again you have to wipe off the grease in order to use it. I assuming this is like putting grease or some kind of mechanical lubrication to prevent from rusting on a breech of an artillery canon after every use. A plastic seems more convenient than the applying and wiping off the grease.

My guess is the equipment would still be usable with the grease on it.
