There are plenty of military academies for high school students around the world, including those in the United States. Some are public schools, some are private schools.
The Chinese education system only includes 9 years of mandatory and free education, typically: elementary school (gr 1-6) and junior high (gr 7-9). Senior high school (gr 10-12) is actually neither free nor mandatory. So it looks like this recruitment stream is to enroll those kids in a PLAN related senior high school and then move them onto military college.Well it's usual in the west that the military would pay for e.g. university degrees in exchange for a period of service, but high school education? Shouldn't that be free to all? Is a 15 year old competent to make such a commitment?
It is also so cheap to enroll in other high schools that the only reason you'd choose the military high school is if you had an interest in enlisting. There's gonna be a lot of competition over the spots, since it makes it easier to become pilot and/or officer. The Chinese education system only includes 9 years of mandatory and free education, typically: elementary school (gr 1-6) and junior high (gr 7-9).
