China sends a fleet of training ships to the Royal Thai Navy's Sattahip Naval Base in preparation for the joint exercise 'Blue Strike 2023'. On August 31, 2566, Admiral Adun Phanthum, Commander of the Royal Thai Fleet, welcomed Rear Admiral Chen Weidong, Deputy Commander of the People's Liberation Army Navy of the People's Republic of China, as the representative of the Chinese Navy to participate in the preparations for the 'Blue Strike 2023' exercise.
On the same day, a fleet of four training ships from the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy arrived at Juk Samet Port, Sattahip Naval Base, consisting of the cruiser CNS Simingshan (989), the frigate CNS Anyang, the support ship CNS Chaohu (anchored in Sattahip Bay), and the submarine CNS Chang Cheng. Representatives from the Chinese Navy were welcomed according to international naval protocols, including Vice Admiral Sompat Narawiroj and Rear Admiral Apa Chapanont, the coordinators of the 'Blue Strike 2023' exercise.
The joint exercise 'Blue Strike 2023' between the Thai and Chinese navies will take place from September 3 to 10, 2566. The official opening ceremony will enhance knowledge, understanding, and exchange between the Thai and Chinese navies in areas such as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR), maritime operations, and
submarine tactics. The exercise aims to strengthen friendly relations between the two navies. It is worth noting that the Royal Thai Navy has engaged in training and cooperation with friendly nations, especially major powers in the Indian Ocean region, contributing to maritime and international peace and stability.
