Well, what a kickstarter for the race to install nuclear warheads on as many things that can be fired as possible:
I suppose that this essentially renders the Virginia SSNs to be on the same level of strategic threat as the Ohio and Columbia SSBNs for China.
Personal comments:
#1 - Time to kick up the production of 093Bs and 095s even further. China needs more SSNs that can launch larger number of cruise missiles, supersonic missiles and hypersonic missiles from not just torpedo tubes, but also singular VLS tubes and multipack VLS tubes;
#2 - Time for China to consider arming submarine-launched cruise missiles, supersonic missiles and hypersonic missiles with nuclear warheads as well. Missiles like the YJ-18, YJ-21, CJ-10 and CJ-100 should be suitable for this role. If the Muricans want to lower the threshold thinking that they are immune from any backlash, then China should prove them dead wrong;
#3 - Other than 093Bs and 095s, the "mini-nuke" SSNs should also be built in large numbers. Albeit certainly having less firepower than the 093Bs and 095s, their smaller dimension should allow more of them to be produced. Assuming that they can achieve similar speeds as the larger SSNs, they can be deployed to tail Murican SSNs, and sink them as soon as war breaks out before their nuclear-tipped cruise missiles can be fired;
#4 - Significantly upgraded and expanded anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and missile early-warning (MEW) efforts that can cover continent-sized oceans should be seriously pursued. ASW and MEW on UAVs, USVs (both surface and submersible) and UUVs working in conjunction with manned warships and warplanes should work towards the utilmate goal of ASW and MEW coverage of the entire WestPac, preferably until the Second Island Chain and even beyond. A tall order of course, but desperate times demands desperate measures; and
#5 - Last but not least - The Golden Rule, i.e.
China best keep building more nukes.
