I think they considered both, In the end they prefer the easy and simple design to the 'better' but more complicated one. I personally don't think one is definitely better than the other.

Not sure about that, because there are two big water-jet nozzles on each side of the door. The soldiers would be sitting on top the pipe/pump. I don't think a ramp is possible.

This was taken a while ago in Portsmouth, UK, I believe. Such a cool photo taken on a chilly morning. Love the light, the light steam, and the Type 071 looming in the back. You can almost turn this into an impressionist oil painting.

That's also an amphibious vehicle. It's no use having nice big doors if they will instantly sink the IFV if opened in water.

Most Chinese APCs and IFVs have nice big double doors, so it's not like they didn't know the benefits of those.

For amphibious IFVs, the biggest risk comes from when the vehicles are swimming ashore, so having doors designed to be useable in the water is more important.

looks to me as if there is a door within a ramp. Could it be that de door is used on non combat situations (maintenance etc.) for easy access without the need to lower the entire ramp?
