You mean the situation warrant heavier stuff? Like tracked IFVs? Personally I believe what's missing is helicopter elements.

No, on the contrary, I don't see why they need them? Some kind of Chinese HUMWEEs/MRAPs should be enough for airbase security needs...

Japan don't have a base have deployed sometimes P-3C as Germany and others Europeans countries MPAs aircrafts to the civil Airport i have mentionned for anti piracy missions.

In 2011 the JMSDF established its own base nearby with 180 troops deployed there on a four month rotational basis, with a command headquarters, boarding facilities and parking apron, at a cost of $4.7 billion yen (USD$40 million).

Their intent is more than just to cover the base security needs, as they want to establish so sort of rapid response force...

That said, the PLA Marines are not "appropiately dressed" in any sense of the word - the rumored "Type 15 camo" (aka Chinese Multicam) will be appropiate.

I believe this exact same irrational exuberance was also seen on SDF not too long ago....

It doesn't foreclose the possibility that China is working on rim driven propeller because right next to the IEPS machine is prototype of jet propeller with inscription what look like rim driven propeller

It is just one man interpretation So take it with a lot of salt

So the jury is still out wait for the next episode of revelation!

Excellent find of LCAC base It show that the LCAC is operational now all those bad mouthing of LCAC is bias

The documents show that China has been working on the rim driven propeller for years. It is just that Prof. Ma didn't say that these will be used in the next nuclear submarine.
