The Russians didn't have APS in Grozny.

About Trophy see my previous comment.

Of Course It's not the absolute defense weapon.

And again - MY POINT IS THAT, BASED ON THE VIDEO WE CAN'T GUDGE HOW IT WORKS AGAINST ATGMs.

P. S. Of Course they can fire whatever they want, but we don't discuss about the researchers capabilities.

Sorry what I meant is that the Russians had working APS tech LONG before Grozny. As far as the public knows, they didn't install APS on tanks that they had available during Grozny, such as Drozd or Arena. Could this be because they thought the APS they had wouldn't be too effective? I don't know. It might have had to do with the angle of those RPG attacks on the T-80 and T-72 tanks.

Yea we agree that APS is seen throughout history as a meh this might work in some circumstances type of defence.

Yeah from the video we don't know how well GL-6 works against ATGM since the video shows a test against RPG 7.

But we should note that RPG 7 flies faster than some very widespread ATGMs and they fired the RPG 7 pretty close. Most ATGMs take a while to accelerate to top speed and on the battlefield typically fired from over a kilometer away.

BTW the Korean K2 APS test was also using a RPG 7.

Merkava's APS ... no public video I'm aware of. Same with the many Russian ones.

Let's assume that APS developers and the militaries purchasing APS would be testing them against ATGMs. I'm sure that's a given.
