Thanks for posting. I was about to post it myself.
how many HQ-19 systems are in service? IISS 2024 does not report any HQ-19 and yet is is supposed to be in service since 2017.
IMO DoD has a fairly good idea the numbers just from satellite imagery of the TELs, associated radars and fire control as well as any testing of system. But their China report is extremely vague and some content is even copied and pasted from prior years.

SAMs are one topic where everyone pretends to sort of understand, but few really do, despite their huge numbers and importance(world's second largest air defense force).
