I want to verify my understanding of the composition of a HQ-9 battalion and ask a few questions.

1. A HQ-9 battalion is just a HQ-9 battery with a single HT-233 FCR, right?
2. The HT-233 FCR has an operator cabin at the back of the vehicle, but that cabin does not serve as the command center for the battalion, there is a separate command vehicle, right? Do we have a photo of the command vehicle
3. How many reloading vehicles does a single battalion operate? 4 reloading vehicles + 4 missile transporter?
4. What dedicated communication equipment does a HQ-9 battalion operate? Does it have something akin to a Patriot Battery's antenna mast group vehicle?

Can answer some of these I think.
1. And a command vehicle, in its most basic form. But that radar is in the process of being replaced. And there's always a lot more vehicles attached to a battalion.
2. There is a separate command vehicle. I'm sure theres pictures out there if you look hard enough.
3. Don't know this one. Sounds reasonable enough though.
4. Most often seen are these troposcatter comms systems and antenna vehicle. You see them everywhere.

Thank you! Do you also know what the vehicle is between the 2 TELs? Command Control vehicle? It seems a bit unnecessary to me as the TEL can definitely be controlled by the HT-233 radar.

It is a 5P85S derivative, can't find the name. And also it probably isn't as most chinese SAM'S have there command post vehicle integrated into its system architecture to avoid being killed if the battery is destroyed. The TEL's are called the HTF598A.

It could also just be a transport truck as well?

Yeah, I've noticed that vehicle in quite a lot of live fire exercises as well. I don't know what it does, but it doesn't appear to be a command vehicle. The truck in the back has its doors open and it appears to have some sort of generator or fan in there, and in other pictures it has thick black cables connecting to the TELs.

I think those are 50kW power supply vehicles. In an FD-2000 battery, there are 8 launchers, 1 FCR, 1 TAR, if 2 launchers share a power supply vehicle then the numbers match.

Though I do believe the TEL itself has a generator.

I think form how frequently these vehicles are paired with HQ-9 TEL, they are very likely to be power supply vehicles. My thought is they are employed during more static and pro-longed deployment, i.e. garrison, target practice in designated ranges.

But the TEL can use its own power supply during emergencies.

More questions, do we have evidence or official confirmation, or news reels about the HQ-9A variant? To me, the HQ-9 seems to jump directly to the B and C variants.
