I read the Canadian and Australian stories and you know what I don’t see in either? Any official Canadian or Australian government response. Pretty sure they would be a formal diplomatic protest if things did go down as the stories suggest, for example.

So, no formal diplomatic protest = BS nothingburger made up story.

Boring push back full of speculation instead of facts. Better for PLA to be the first to release their side of the story with video. And provocative reconnaissance near China is not illegal. No matter what CN do to deal with those reconnaissance flight, US and its allies will not be deterred.
As sovereign state China has the right to point out to the west that what they did is provocation, unfriendly act and dangerous .Whether they heed the warning or not is irrelevant. It is no different than if you see someone snapping picture at your house repeatedly, you have the right to confront the perpetrator!

A provocation is not illegal. PLA should also do same against AU
Unfriendly act? CN and AU are not friends

You have the right to confront as you want but can't stop him from snapping picture at your house again and again

GT is a damn loud-mouth! There are a lot of things they say that don't matter. And there are even some things they say that don't make sense.

It's just a news agency for ambiguity and plausible deniability.
Yes, a boring & useless news agency

Well it is warning and you have the liberty to take stronger measure next time around like releasing flare like they did Yes you can escalate the provocation but mind of the consequence

The 2001 hainan island incident has not deterred US. You can take any stronger measure or escalate as you want. Do you think a lost of a P-8A or RC-135 with everyone dead will make US stop sending spy plane near CN?

Actually, the US military did stop the simulated attack runs on Mainland China in the aftermath, as per Chas Freeman.

There's a Youtube video where he describes how the US military used to conduct these simulated attack runs on the USSR, but in just prior to the 2001 Hainan Incident, they switched the simulated attack runs from Russia to China.

Plus the headlines look really bad if there is a collision

"American Spy Plane in Collision with Chinese Fighter Jet off the Chinese Coastline"

The Australian prime minister said he lodged a complaint. Why they took so long to break the story is anyone’s guess.
