having lived on a airbase (PAF Minhas Airbase which i visit almost every year) i would say counting shelters is probably one of the most reliable ways of determining a air force inventory, not to mention RAF Leuchars which i can see from my house in Scotland

if i could i would give you a full run down of Kamra, but i wont, as after the last time i did it, terrorists used the internet to plan the attack on the airbase, so in the interest of security i will leave it there

At the very least it helps establish an upper value for the number of aircraft in service or to be procured, even if not immediately so.

but not necessarily awacs planes. that is my whole point. no one would build 7 shelters in 2005 because in 2012 they plan to have 7 awacs. point is that we cant know which type of plane (besides it being large enough to require large shelter) is under those shelters.

So there is a possibility that Conformal AEW is under consideration by People's Liberation Army Navy? Is this still under study phase or has it design phase now?

The navy is on the verge of a massive expansion programme and are about to get hit with a massive array of aircraft

First we have the KJ-200

Then we have the Y-8FQ basically it's a P-3C

And we have the Y-8 ELINT a EW aircraft

These are all based on the Cat III platform you know the one that our ZDK-03 are based on, looks much like the new Y-9 aircraft

All of the above are in serial production now and will enhance the navy's capability to a extent never before seen

what base is that, with 9 shelters? does anyone have the coordinates?

9 shelters for kj2000 and kj200 both? or are plaaf's kj2000 kept at a separate base from their own kj200?

Sunan Shuofang International Airport (WUX) in Wuxi. 9 small shelters for KJ200 and 4 large shelters for KJ2000. It's a dedicated AEW&C base belongs to PLAAF 26th Div 76th AEW&C Regiment (might have already upgraded to a brigade). PLAAF's other GX series special planes in the regions are stationed at Nanjing Dajiaochang.

I got footage of all 4 KJ-2000 shelters when we were taking off on the runway directly in front of them. 3 of the 4 KJ-2000's were present when I recorded the video and a KJ-200 had just taken off.

Does it already have 9 KJ-200s? 9 Seems like a very old number.
