Russian air force got a new variant of A-50, the A-50U

How does it compare to the KJ-2000? do you think that it is time for a new version of KJ-2000?

I'm not even sure if A-50U is AESA, it seems more like an incremental upgrade... beyond that we know nothing.

At any rate, how do we know existing KJ-2000 hasn't been upgraded from when they first entered service? The first test aircraft seems to still be flying, and KJ-2000 have been in service for a good number of years now, I'd expect it to have gone under, or ready to go under a series of upgrades.

I think what they did on A-50U was the upgrade of analog electronics to digital electronics.
That seems to me to be excessively late. When Russian radar people arrived at Delft University in the early '90's they knew more about radar than their Dutch colleges understood the Americans knew. That must at that time have included digital signal processing.

also found here, looks to be 9421. They finally filled that regiment I guess. We've seen 9371 and now on 9421.
