That's the original first prototype no. 762 - actually a former RuAF A-50 - after receiving a new colour-scheme.

Yes I think that definitively shows my picture to be legitimate. Now we wait, for pictures of the Y-7/fixed wing naval AWACS...

I do think, that redesigning Y-7 for carrier use is little different from designing a new aircraft.

I imagine any "Y-7" based awacs would have a whole new load of specs -- current models aren't suited that well to the E-2 size and performance, or carrier operations in general simply from the powerplant endurance and size pov. The Y-7 awacs platform will probably be a whole new aircraft, with a few common parts with current variants (Y-7X or Y-7K or something), like the F-18E/F vs the F-18C/D.

But also such simple things as designing the undercarriage for landing at a sink rate of 6 m/s rather than 3 m/s. The whole structure will have to be redesigned.

and the undercarriage attaching structures, new wing 2 fuselage attachements, new wings, re-engine, new props, new high lift system for wings. foldable wings. new tail fins and empennagegs. etc etc.

the list goes on and on....
after after all this you would find that the only old parts is the fueslage barrel diameter and may be the nose.

Y-7 goes on carrier = never will happen.
