Why do you think so?

IMO the C919 is at least at the moment (and so in the next years) still not a totally indigenous product and what may be fine for the civil market is a "killer" for the PLAAF. But if it's worth all the efforts to convert it just for a "few" for a special mission type I don't know

I'm more curious on apparent return to Rotodome style instead of going the usual three faced fixed dome design for the AEW's.

One thing i can think of is possible desire on increasing power aperture product, by maximizing the available aperture area.

Would be 2-300 military variants if EP3/E7/P8/RC135/ABCP and C40 analogues are built. That's not including potential tanker variants.

Really? Suche. Huge filet makes no sense and even lesser a tanker variant. In fact I don‘t see the C919 in any form - besides a VIP transport replacing the few A320 and B737 - in PLAAF service. The next generation EW/ISR aircraft IMO will be something like this:

C919 is too small to be a tanker variant. At least C929-sized airliner is required for adaptation into a tanker role. Or, just use the Y(Y)-20B instead.

Has the ARJ21 been indigenized to a sufficient degree that would allow military-use adaptation by the PLA?

We also know the existence of the CBJ800 since the 2010s, but scant news about its development means that the business jet isn't likely to see PLA use anytime either, IMHO.

The circular radomes of the two are almost the same size, but the radar array of "KJ-700" is closer to the center of circular radome, and their size is significantly larger than that of "KJ-3000".

But why then not using thsi design and radar for the KJ-3000 too?
