Probably. But the AWACS unit is based with the newly reformed 26th Division, which does special units. Used to be the 26th Division is an all J-8II unit, but the PLAAF disbanded the old 26th, and reformed into this new group. I don't know if there is any new badge to this unit and I don't think the old unit badge of the 26th would still apply.

Thank you very much for the attention you paid, but can you show me the unit's old badge you mentioned?:)

Seems like outdated tech but it could be lack of space to put satcom equipment. Thks for the info.

How is that outdated? An antenna is an antenna. There is no "date" to it. Look at the VHF aerials around the world, for example, the basic design hasn't changed since WWII.

according to TW def. magazine quote from official from japanese SNGINT interception.claim that PLA still using open channel or commercial radio to communicate.rather than data link or frequency hopping radio.
there is speculation even paleo morse code machine still being use.

VHF and UHF and even longer frequency bands are what you need to communicate with satellites and submarines. Long frequency resists attenuation through the ionosphere and at the water when shorter wavelengths are either bounced off or absorbed.

I just comparing to other AEW&C planes which do not have these radio comm aerials. KJ-2000 and the Y-8 Rotodome AEW&C do not have these radio aerials, why only KJ-200?

Comparing to SAAB AEW&C, which is similiar aircraft to KJ-200, they too do not have these aerials?
