Yes. As well as Shaanxi.
Everyone knows Shenyang doesn't produce Y-8/9, and Shaanxi doesn't produce Flankers.

So it's pretty obvious if someone uses SAC for a picture of Y-9s then they are referring to Shaanxi and not Shenyang.

I think most PLA watchers consider Shaanxi to still be it's own entity for the purposes of differentiating aircraft production like Y-9.

I haven't seen anyone describe Y-9 as an XAC product.


And calm down with the caps lock, I'm not sure why you're having a go at me or why you went towards Deino's.

I do not derive any such satisfaction.

As for Shaanxi ceasing to exist as an independent company, that doesn't change the fact that PLA watchers currently still regard Shaanxi to be its own entity enough such that Y-9 aircraft are regarded as from "SAC" rather than "XAC". The differing locations of their production spaces also reflect it.


You can make a case to suggest that all Shaanxi aircraft should be considered to be under Xi'an, but I think you cannot sensibly demand that other people should call it by that.

I'm sorry but it's not so simple. Sikorsky was bought by Lockheed in late 2015, however Sikorsky is still often referred to as its own entity in media and commentary because Lockheed chose it so.

We have not seen any evidence that Shaanxi has been absorbed by XAC in the way that you describe such that it does not deserve to still be referred to as an entity.
