There are 2 main Muslim rebel groups in Mindanao, the MILF who are Maranao operates mostly in Central Mindanao while the MNLF who are mostly Tausug operates in Sulu archipelago which Basilan is a part of. So who are the one that kick the AFP ass, the Abu Sayaf, a rag tag group, it's easy to put the blame on the MILF, the largest and the most heavily equip forces in the region to save face. Cause people are asking, where were those military equipment bought under Duterte modernization program like the blackhawks and the Turkish T129? the terrain there are ideal for guerilla warfare and very difficult for infantry to maneuver, these copters are bought for this kind of operation, so why are they not being use?
I can't help but lowkey admire the Bangsamoro way of sneakily advancing their own interests in the background, taking advantage of how spineless the central government is. They will be well-positioned if ever the central government in Manila collapses.
Just to give a little background, the SAF 44 are the 44 members of the PH Police force that were butchered by the MILF Terrorist group back in 2014.
Guess what? after 10 years not a single MILF member has been punished, and the MILF was even awarded to become the new rulers of the Muslim autonomous region in the Philippines.
