Siege, everybody knows the name Peace Mission is sarcasm.

Who knows maybe this Uzbek/Kazakh violence can lead to a war scenario and the Practices in Peace mission can help in that scenario.

Air superiority over what? Terrorists on flying carpets? :D

Am I really the only person on this forum who thinks that there is greater significance to China sending the J-10s than on the paper?

Maybe they will be preparing for combat against terrorists with some backing that might have air force too.

Plus I believe J-10 too, have some air-ground capability...

And also for commercial reasons. However if you ask me... I would think that the JH-7A and the Q5 are more suitable for the job... but these aircrafts are already old and not that high tech... so showing them off would not bring much 'wow'.

Another aircraft that China could bring in is the FC-1. But that is a joint venture with the Pakistani, so any sales generated would be split between China and Pakistan.

From the showcase, I think J-10 is ripe for sales now.:D

There's definitely the possibility of the PLAAF wanting to show off their new plane for potential customers.
And the J-10 has precision bombing as well, through the LT-2 laser guided bomb, pictures of which recently (and finally) emerged. Maybe just going to show off some of their capabilities?

(Or reading between the lines, perhaps some sort of aerial excercise with russian flankers or migs or what not during or after the so called peace mission... err mission)

Noted the LT-2 LGB are fitted on the wing pylons.

J-10 are send to carry out precision strike.

Thnx. I think the commercial reason has a lot to do with it. Using J-10 for ground attack may also emphasis that the plane was built with "multi-role" in mind.

Does anyone know why the J-10s are releasing flares?

Does anyone know why the J-10s are releasing flares?

It's either for show for that picture (wich I think is most likely here), or they flare preemtively shortly before or after weapon release close to the ground to confuse potential IR seekers from MANPADS on the ground.

Are those Chinese humvee knockoffs or are they American humvees belonging to one of the other militaries? They look like they have add-on armor on the sides?
