I think I have confused matters,

I meant in addition to, we already have 4 F22Ps, I was refering to 4 more advanced Type054As for dedicated air defence, which is something PN needs

4 modified Type054As would cost in the region of $1.2-$1.5 billion, considering PN has cancelled submarine deals and other major accusations from the West this should not be a issue, over a long term loan its do-able

4 Corvettes also would be under the $1 billion mark, spread over 5 years this is no problem, peronally for $2 billion we can have 4 Type056 and 4 Type54A, 8 new ships, thats a very low price, PN was considering 2nd hand used ships for this price

also streamlinning our accusations from China and having platforms from similar origin will reduce cost and increase effciency and help better integrate all the systems, so the overall cost in terms of operations will be reduced

also USS McInerney which is the Oliver Hazard Perry class frigate is now PNS Alamgir is a pretty good ASW ship, we are expcted to get another 5 of these to make a total of 6 ships from US

Considering that the 054A is rumored to cost $300m to build for the PLAN, getting 4 modified models for $1.2-1.5bn seems... optimistic.

hmm, 054A costs 1.58 billion RMB back in the days, so I guess around $250 million. That does not include the development cost of the subsystems I think. I certainly don't think selling 054As to PN for $300 million each is unreasonable, although there maybe added costs for new developments.

in terms of cost it depends what modifications PN is wanting, Oliver Hazard Perry class frigate is good for ASW, F22Ps are equipped to engage with anti-ship missiles in addition to the 120 C802 which were bougth last year can be launched from the shore, so this leaves only the requirment for a good defence network, a Type054A can sit out in the Arabian Sea which could provide cover for Karachi port and all the vunerable industrys along the coast

all these new ships need protection from the air so a system which can perform in not only defending itself but also other ships and a landmark is needed, maybe China can have some airdefence fitted in Type054A to do all these jobs

this looks so different, is this the 500 ton fast attack boat for Pakistan> how come the rear end of the hull looks black with some kind of smoke? its either the photo or does it look damaged from the side on?

Maybe the exhause is shifted lower so smokes will be less visible?

yes that is PNS Azmat, PNS Dahshat is under construction in Karachi Dockyard

that is one slick looking ship, its first time PN will have a "stealth" ship in its inventory
