CHINESE EMBASSY IN PAKISTAN SAYS TWO OF ITS CITIZENS HAVE BEEN KILLED AND ANOTHER INJURED IN AN ATTACK NEAR KARACHI AIRPOT
A suspected suicide bombing in Karachi near the near the Jinnah International Airport, Pakistan lead to at leat 2 fatalities and 7 injuries close to midnight on October 6, 2024. The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan confirmed that two of its citizens were killed in the attack and another injured amidst local casualties, who were working at the Port Qasim Electric Power Company (Private) Limited. The statement further added that “Chinese Embassy and Consulates General in Pakistan strongly condemn this terrorist attack, express deep condolences to the innocent victims of both countries and sincere sympathies to the injured and families, and are making every effort to handle the aftermath together with the Pakistani side.” The embassy said that it was launching an emergency plan, “The Chinese Embassy and Consulates General in Pakistan have launched an emergency plan immediately, requesting the Pakistani side to thoroughly investigate the attack, severely punish the perpetrators, and take all necessary measures to protect the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions and projects in Pakistan.” The statement concluded to say, “The Chinese Embassy and Consulates General in Pakistan remind Chinese citizens, enterprises and projects in Pakistan to be vigilant, pay close attention to the security situation, strengthen security measures, and make every effort to take safety precautions.” Meanwhile, the Baloch Liberation Army’s Majeed Brigade, who claimed the attack has published the picture of the suicide bomber and identified him as Shah Fahad alias Aftab.
