I am really interested in Chinese perspective with regards to the current political upheavel in Pakistan and the role of various actors. Especially considering that China is a major weapons supplier to the Pakistani army and a well-wisher of Pakistani economy. Thus far I have seen a very muted response. I understand that China doesn't behave like the US when it comes to meddling in internal affairs of sovereign nations. I absolutely respect Chinese handling of international affairs which is based on mutual respect and win win.

Nevertheless, something sinister has happened and the chances of reoccurrence are mildly put inevitable. As the facts appear, the Pakistani army is being named openly as a complicit party. China also deals greatly with the Pakistani army in many areas. The Pakistani COAS has made no secret of maintaining a more neutral stance between various camps. This sounds more like the traditional Indian policy of appeasing all sides. The Pakistani COAS basically seeks a partnership in all camps including US. Is this possible where China and the US are entangled in various conflicts? How do our Chinese friends perceive this change of strategy? How will it impact various layers of our relationship?

Though the name and most of the content of this forum is related to China but is not owned or operate by China related individual or organization. Rather it is setup for collecting China related information specially its armed forces and equipment. Very few members are here from mainland China and it does not reflect in any way the thinking or opinion of Chinese people or its government.

A couple of interesting quotes in this article (in January) from a reliable source i.e. Air Marshal Farhat Hussain (retired), who was the chief project director of the JF-17. He is currently leading an air warfare think tank.
  • The Block III (allegedly) received the “Extended range beyond-visual-range (BVR) PL-15 missiles with 200 km range"
  • One additional hardpoint for pods
It's not an official confirmation of the base model of PL-15. But since no one in the PAF has confirmed the "E" version either, it leaves the door open for the possibility. At the very least, it will force the IAF to assume that it's the base model PL-15, which is tactically useful for the PAF.

Sawhney is in Islamabad for a security conference. Good interview:

Holy shit! I always liked this fellow. But this interview really opened my eyes to his politics. His points on all the topics, China-India, India-Pakistan, China-India-Pakistan, and of course Russia and US were spot on! Hope I see more such voices within India about the BRI.

I had personally never heard this narrative, that too from a former officer of the IA, that Pakistan never lost a war on the western front of India. It was such a revelation!

Yes, however; the Pak Army has never won a war decisively either.

So it's basically a grade C+ warfighting force, given that India is x3 in size and resources. But that's still not nearly good enough, given our strategic requirements. The PAF has always been a better warfighting force, but the Air Force has always been hampered by our Army's strategic and operational idiocy that it displayed in every war that it has fought.

Just look at the Pak Army's ToE and compare it with Pakistan's geography. We have only 2 Armored Divisions, and basically 1000 tanks that are worth anything. That alone tells you a lot about the short-sightedness of the Pak Army, considering its objective of capturing Kashmir (which is connected to India via the plains of Punjab/"Tank Country".) What this shows, is that their officer education and training is ridiculous, since they can't recognize basic problems, let alone come up with innovative solutions to master combined arms maneuver warfare, which is a requirement if your enemy is much bigger than you.

Maybe if the Army wasn't so involved in frekkin real-estate development and politics for the past half a century, they'd focus on their actual fuckin job.
