I believe the most effective way of training is not by these high tech laser tag thingies that are actually not really very effective and it actually added weigh to the rifle (at least in my time).

I think a BB gun of some sort might be more useful. That way, you actually see the opponent hit.

BB gun can only be used for CQB practises due to their short range. Laser tag the 1st generation MILES is crap. Latest generation laser tag I tried before leaving the army, I am quite impress with it.

To run 5k within 18min is very competitive. Is this normal infantry standard?

for some PLA units i would imagine yes. there is a paper standard that you can find on the internet, and then there is the army standard lol. a military that only goes by the min standard is crap, and so far i have not heard of any unit that is okay with meeting just that.

If you are gonna keep pretending you are in the Canadian army, try working on your english, military terminology and tone down the pla fanboy attitude.

just some unfriendly advice

what about those paintball guns designed specifically for the military? Those guns look exactly look actual guns. When the paintball hits, it actual hurts BADLY. It adds a little fear factor in an exercise. If you've played paintball, you know how much you don't want to get hit by one of those things...

We use simmunitions/fx, a conversion kit we use on mp5`s. Also with a vest, gasmask, gloves etc, ou have to be pretty unlucky to get a painfull hit. It still gets you heart rate up when you "incoming".

Yeah, I thought this would be a good "simulation" of combat condition since what you do actually could have some painful consequences, vs. some painless laser thingy.

I was wondering about that as well, finally arriving to an ubsubstantiated conclusion that it must be elite troops?. One of my kids and their friends go for a 5k street run practically everyday and they are pleased they can do a sub 20
