Only dissatisfaction I have with Chinese Taipei winning gold against mainland team is missing the drama that would have ensued on the island had they lost. Like in previous cases, some celebrities with mainland careers would rage against the defeat and inadvertently out themselves as taidu, which then killed their lucrative mainland gigs. One example is the H in SHE.

I still feel very pissed off because China was so close and it's literally the same guys from Taiwan last time. Looks bad on China.

However on same day China took gold in men's medley. So maybe it's a sign Taiwan may hold on a bit longer, but China has already made a huge crack in it's American backer.

Update on gold prospects remaining

High chance
2 in table tennis
4 in diving
2 in synchro swimming
5-6 in weightlifting

and maybe:
~1 in shooting
~1 in badminton
~1-3 in gymnastics (men's parallel bar, high bar, women's balance beam)

Currently at 19
Estimated final golds (based on these sports only) are 32-38

Not including sports I'm unsure of like athletics, boxing, wrestling, cycling, sailing, canoeing, volleyball and other team sports where quite a few more could also come. Btw the 4 maybe ones are all taking place today so we're in for an exciting day

Apparently we have a trio of ladies who are favored for team sprint indoor cycling gold; they would be repeats from Tokyo if they won again and they set the WR a few months back.

We also have a girl who qualified #1 in the balance beam, which is supposedly Bile's weakest aspect? Yeah, they better up her dosage or she'll F off onto flat ground again like in Tokyo.
