Well at least the Chinese leader are selected based on meritocracy as it has been for century. They earn their keep based on their performance starting from village chief, then prefecture head, provincial government then if they are good they might be selected to become general secretary of CCP.

In the west president is selected based on Charisma, good look, oratory skill, snake oil salesman, even movie star, reality tv star can become president. Performance in running a government is optional. And you see the result 250000 dead and counting 5 million infected etc, 50 million unemployed

There are several stellerators in the world right now. It is a nuclear fusion reactor concept that in largely solves the problems of the tokamak concept. The quest is on to achieve stellerator optimization. It is possible that a stellerator (HELIAS-5B) could be an alternative to DEMO (sucessor of ITER).

Even if a faction of the 1000 researchers are qualified, China would benefit greatly. I just don't understand why America would claim victory over losing the brightest. I think China is secretly hoping Biden admistration would continue this racial profiling so that more and more of overseas talents would return.

Meanwhile the Arecibo Message that the US sent out hasn't yet reached not even 0.2% of its intended destination and the whole dish/tower collapsed recently... due to infrastructure decay.

If there is gonna be first contact, it would be the Chinese not the Americans.
