Actually, the arecibo telescope has suffered a huge accident. The 900t receiver platform has colapsed into the dish, causing huge damage. What a pity. I remember when i was a child, of seeing a picture of this telescope and becoming fascinated with it.

I used to think only the West can create such wonder, until the Chinese Fast went online. Now CHINESE children dare to dream and hope for a better homeland. Its an omen, when we landed Chang'e-5,their dish collapsed. The government is in such decay that they can't even afford to repair Arecibo. Such a pity.

I actually went there while on assignment in Puerto Rico many years ago. Quite a sight. The Puerto Ricans are very proud of it and their rain forest, kept asking me to visit their rain forest but I got plenty at home.

scientific installations like Arecibo are wasted now on cultures that discriminate against Chinese applicants on the basis of race, and which persecute Chinese researchers and scientists.

The Chinese should offer some assistance for its repair.

People don't fight for Chinese leaders to defend the motherland, they fight because those lands were handed down by our ancestors for our safekeeping and are expected to pass further on to our descendants, and the leaders just happen to also have the same goal as the people.

That same logic also applies to infrastructure work. We are expected to pass China to our descendants in a better state than when we got it. Dujiangyan was built by our ancestors more than 2000 years ago and still furfills its function today and will continue to do so as long as each generation of Chinese continue to look after it. And so by the same token Chinese people alive today should aspire to build works that will benefit our descendants 2000 years from now.
From whom you gathered the information about the importance of infrastructural investment, or about the strategical important areas ?

Who approved the purchase order for the expert broadcasting his view in the official/oligarch connected news channels ?

It is easy and comfortable to leave the thinking to others, and accept the ideas fan our nationalistic / egoist feelings.

Harder to see the reality.

It's basic human decency to leave things better off for those behind you, wouldn't you say?

As for who manages the infrastructure work, that would be the CPC, and they're doing a good job. Many people at the time were against the HSR and Beidou projects when they first started because they lacked the strategic view that CPC leadership have. And yet now that Beidou is complete and China has more HSR than rest of the world combined people come to appreciate them and praise CPC for their foresight. Imagine China in the world today if she was still relying on GPS.

Given CPC's track record on these sort of thing, is there any reason why we shouldn't trust the CPC?
