I disagree. Fintech companies within China are insulated from the threats of cyber attacks from the wider world. One reason is the strong government system in place that Mets outs good punishments and the other is the language barrier. That's not the appropriate response as perfect security is impossible to achieve and performs no deterrence. The appropriate response is that if Ant's service is "degraded" for a few weeks then the US goes without electricity for a few weeks.
Reading that tweet I got a feeling that RonVarra is the one who proposed it.I disagree. Fintech companies within China are insulated from the threats of cyber attacks from the wider world. Compare that to US companies which constantly get attacked by other entities (due to the US centered Global internet as well as the dominance of English language ).
If Ant or any other Chinese Fintech is going to go global, then they must be ready to face the big ruthless world of cyber attacks.
Ofcourse, my argument perches on the understanding that China is insulated, relatively atleast, from global cyber attacks and China's cyber security sphere is less developed.
Why is very very far? With this logic the 20years old TGV which run at 587 km/h is superior to last years Fuxings? Japan needs to put in use this shuttle. Or never happened
A cyber attack like that is an act of war; China should take this to the UN in such a case and issue arrest warrants backed up by PLA SpecOps to bring in Pompeo and other assorted NSA Hackers to justice. That's not the appropriate response as perfect security is impossible to achieve and performs no deterrence. The appropriate response is that if Ant's service is "degraded" for a few weeks then the US goes without electricity for a few weeks.
Banning French wines and Swedish Ikea would be a good start.I agree. It's just CCP should be careful of appearing appeasing the foreigners too much. Despite the great fire wall, younger generations of Chinese are better educated and many are acutely aware of west's ongoing effort to cripple China. Unlike the older generations who didn't grow up during the rise, they are increasingly difficult to satisfy with meaningless platitudes issued by the governmental ministries. Hope CCP doesn't wait too long, everyone has a limit to inaction.
Cyber attacks happen all the time to Fintech companies. Just go over to any reputed cyber security firm website and look at the reports.Reading that tweet I got a feeling that RonVarra is the one who proposed it.
I don't know whether Esper was in the loop, but he should know that doing attacks like that after your admin voted out (I assume) towards core financial services is a hell of provocation. Might as well bomb run the SCS military bases, still less damaging.
No, it isn't. Cyber attacks beget Cyber attacks.A cyber attack like that is an act of war; China should take this to the UN in such a case and issue arrest warrants backed up by PLA SpecOps to bring in Pompeo and other assorted NSA Hackers to justice.
