semi-conductor and jet engine are two major sectors the america has chosen to hold China down, the good news for China is both are approaching the "wall", the final barrier; for chips no more Moor's law, no more breakthrough, for jet engine variable cycle engine already under development. in short run China may feel the pain, in the long run the decisive battles are unlikely in these fields.

In the areas neighboring
Huawei's research and development base in Songshanhu of Dongguan, South China's Guangdong Province, it was not hard to find a range of high-tech companies thriving on booming digital services amid COVID-19. But for some industry representatives in the high-tech sector, it's hard to turn a blind eye to what Huawei has been experiencing in recent days amid a heightened US-China tech war.

"It's never been more urgent for us to make breakthroughs in core technologies," a supplier of Huawei, located miles away from Huawei's R&D base and producing components for telecom equipment like base station and fiber-optic network, told the Global Times on Wednesday.

Wednesday was also the second day of the latest US ban to cut off chip supply to Huawei, which apparently became an unavoidable topic among engineers, technicians and employees over the lunch break or coffee time in industrial parks in Dongguan, home to hundreds of factories making various types of products ranging from raw materials to components for electronic gadgets.

Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has unveiled an autonomous logistics robot which will be used by its logistics affiliate Cainiao in an attempt to meet the logistical demands associated with the last-mile of any delivery.

The robot, named Xiaomanlv, meaning “little workaholic donkey” in Chinese, is able to plan delivery routes in crowded areas, identify obstacles, predict pedestrians’ intended movements and operate with weak or even no GPS signal thanks to the adoption of deep learning technology, high-definition positioning and heterogeneous computing, Alibaba said in a statement released Thursday.

Xiaomanlv can transport 50 packages at a time and cover 62 miles on a single charge, with its application scenarios mainly focusing on communities, campuses and business zones, Alibaba said, estimating that the robot can deliver as many as 500
packages a day.

Consumers can select a preferred timeslot for their deliveries using either the Cainiao or Taobao mobile apps, and the packages delivered to designated stations can then be accessed with a passcode, according to the statement.

In recent years, Chinese food delivery companies have begun testing robot-enabled deliveries in order to reduce costs and enhance efficiency. In February, Meituan deployed a fleet of autonomous vehicles to send grocery orders to customers in some parts of Beijing in order to reduce human contact during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Here in my country, majority of people is having a laugh at the current China predicament. That 48nm chip that China is going to get is not even a guarantee success without help from other country. I personally am cheering you guys, hope China is the one having the last laugh. It is going to be tough 5 years for China. Cheers and good luck.

and did Samsung/TSMC still selling chips to huawei? nope. its not just economy, but geopolitical they are US ally, Aussies is best example, they have so much economy tie to china, but politically/geostrategic they are in US camp. Unless, samsung/TSMC or the like can gain Alot, otherwise they wont spend Billions to open up a new supply chain devoid of US products(if thats even possible in short term). Unless SK/Japan fully prepare to be on China side, they wont jeopardize their relation with US. Also Trump wont be potus either next year or at most 4 years. The next potus very likely support its allies rather than piss them off.
The big picture is not about being on China or US side or even supplying Huawei with chips. It's about a escape route that every non American company should have. US had proven that they are more than happy to mass up or threatened any company, country , union or treaty when US have the leverage or means to do so.
Eventually other countries will be more developed economically and having a larger international trades among themselves. This trend is happening now, in Asia, middle East, Africa and Latin America. This means that their trade with US will become relatively less important. But US is not going to be sidelined politically or economically. They will do to them what they had done to China and Chinese companies because of American exceptionalism/ American first.
So companies or countries that remain completely dependent on US tech or defence is not going to have much options.
Even Australia, US most royal ally, suddenly this year rejected US call for more Australian Navy ships to navigate into China claimed islands and at the same time had to beef up its defence with hundreds of billions of dollars at its worst economic recession since 2nd world war. This defence upgrade is due to the realization that Australia can not depends or trust US entirely. Australian politicians now actively promoting more trade with India, Japan, UK , Indonesia but doing nothing with US and China.
Sorry this maybe a bit going off topic, but the big picture is that the US is in relative decline and will get more antagonistic. Companies not prepared for what's coming will have their fate decided by US goodwill.

China will succeed quite well, this is China's 21st century Manhattan project and the gov + scientists will mk sure they succeed, and as we have exchanged info here, by end of 2021 and 2022 they will announce important milestones, that's just a guess but for sure Huawei too wants to move forward faster

China is not helpless. It is the opposite of helpless. It can become the world's most powerful nation if it wants to.
Yes, by investing in education and tech development.
But it will go into stagnation and decline if it chooses to start fights with everyone.
Nope, Chinese GDP and tech are the fastest growing in the world and remain so with every fight and challenge it faces. Fact
The US has attacked Huawei. Next, Japanese, South Korean companies will attack Huawei. Next, Chinese companies like SMIC will abandon Huawei and Xiaomi and Oppow ill take their customers. Next, Chinese consumers will abandon Huawei. No, they won't get a billion customers like some people are saying here, because even Chinese customers don't want inferior phones without American chips. Next, Huawei's own employees will abandon Huawei.
Only the US has attacked Huawei; the rest want to do business but are helpless until they divest from American tech. And Huawei is a full tech company that does not depend on selling phones; even with a full pause in its phone department, Huawei is in no danger. I told you this already without rebuttal; are you illiterate, or just pretending to be because you want to say things that you cannot defend?
Huawei is finished.

China tech is finished. The only thing that can save it now is if Xi Jinping chooses to stop getting into fights with everyone and seeks better relations with other countries.
They're finished playing around. Now we see how fast Chinese tech can really move. And it will be up to other countries to seek better relations with an unstoppable China.
