OnePlus CEO says new Hydrogen OS 11 for Chinese users is on its way-cnTechPost

OnePlus phones have outstanding hardware, but the software is the biggest weakness, especially when compared to the highly customizable features other Chinese phone makers provide.

For this issue, OnePlus founder and CEO Pete Lau said Friday, the new Hydrogen OS 11 is coming.

He said that Hydrogen OS 11 will have the new changes and features that everyone has been waiting for, and he hopes that Hydrogen OS 11 will be a starting point.
Pete Lau said that when Hydrogen OS was first introduced in 2015, the ideas of simplicity, cleanliness, and smoothness were refreshing - "it turns out that a system can be so pure".
Over the past few years, OnePlus has pushed out hundreds of stable versions of updates to keep Hydrogen OS growing by collecting reviews and locating fixes for over 200,000 accumulated bugs, among other things.

However, Pete Lau also mentioned that Hydrogen OS has not done enough to meet the expectations of OnePlus.
The Hydrogen OS 11 for OnePlus has not been announced yet and it is widely speculated that it should be based on Android 11. OnePlus will not give up on the lightness and smoothness that are the traditional characteristics of Hydrogen OS, and will also add more service features, such as optimized photography and battery life.

Hydrogen OS is a ROM that OnePlus announced in 2015 when it developed two sets of ROMs, one for China and one for the overseas market. The overseas version is called the Oxygen OS.

Hi AndrewS,

The ship had sailed, there is no turning back for China tech self sufficiency. Trump arrogrant approach is the main culprit for the acceleration, his economic team led by Navarro and especially Robert Lighthizer think that they can do a JAPAN type agreement to curtail it.

Playing a devils advocate, the better way to maintain US tech supremacy is to cooperate with the Chinese, I know it may sound funny especially regarding the trust issue , but its better to keep your friend close and your enemy closer. Its cheaper to as you can share the talent and resource. Look at what goodwill and prestige it will contribute to American and its company in China the biggest market, its a win win situation, one can only hope.:(

You are right about the ship sailing, China doesn't have a choose anymore, at least this was a clear/clean cut...

As for cooperation, don't count on it. Even if Biden wins, nothing fundamental ever changes, Biden may put on a smile face but in the end might be more effective long term in containing China than Trump

HI BMEWS,

Yup, Obama tactic is the right one, I think he himself doubt it will hamstrung the development of China tech advancement, but at least the American industry will benefit. What Trump had done is destroying the America credibility as a benign power. Now all countries will be wary in using American tech.

Multipatterning isn’t just more expensive, it’s more complicated, slower, can hurt yields, and is also more prone to introducing delays in your process. That’s why EUV for smaller nodes is a really big deal.

If multi patterning is mastered for DUV lithography, regardless of how complicated it is, it is mastered. Being complicated is most probably what makes it slower, and its slowness causes delays in comparison to single patterning, and this reduces yields per unit time, and makes it more expensive.

Not how it works...each new process node down you need to redo your multipatterning method while adding steps because the features are going to be finer, and may even be different from your previous node. There’s a reason why no one in the industry likes it.
