China produced its first 高性能取向电工钢. I don't know what type of steel that is, but looks like it's very high end and can save a lot of electricity
It's electrical steel used in power transformers, motors, etc. It is the magnetic core that wires wind around. The magnetic field is what allows inductive energy transfer between electric current in 2 DC isolated circuits in a transformer or motor.

Small devices usually use nonoriented steel which has no grain orientation. Oriented steel has a strong magnetic axis and thus can raise internal magnetic fields even higher.

The 25th Institute of the Second Academy of China Aerospace Science and Industry recently completed the first domestic real-time wireless transmission communication experiment of terahertz orbital angular momentum in Beijing. This breakthrough will provide an important guarantee and support for the development of my country's 6G communication technology. It is reported that this experiment uses a high-precision helical phase plate antenna to realize 4 different beam modes in the 110GHz frequency band, and completes 100Gbps wireless real-time transmission on a 10GHz transmission bandwidth through 4-mode synthesis, maximizing bandwidth utilization.

interesting exchange if you watch the chinese report of this. The bring 110 ambassadors over to see 5G technology and how they can be used to improve agriculture, smart medicine and smart living.

Good thing for China to go on the offensive with global south and show them how this technology can be utilized to help their economy. Western countries never really figured out how to use 5G

China's 6G telecommunication technology has made a key breakthrough with the first real-time wireless transmission communication experiment using terahertz orbital angular momentum, the Second Research Institute of China Aerospace Science and Industry Co (CASIC) announced on Wednesday.

The experiment completed 100Gbps wireless real-time transmission on 10GHz transmission bandwidth by using wireless backhaul technology. The success of the experiment makes it possible to maximize the utilization of bandwidth and provides a guarantee for the development of 6G communication technology in China, according to a statement that the research institute sent to the Global Times.

With the continuous improvement of communication rate requirements, mobile communication frequency bands are being extended to millimeter-wave and higher terahertz frequency bands, while signal transmission loss is greatly increased, and the deployment density of base stations increases exponentially.

In the 5G/6G communication era of highly dense base stations, traditional optical fiber-based bearer network transmission faces problems such as high cost, long deployment cycles and poor flexibility.

Wireless backhaul, which is a means for connecting broadband sites to the core network in a wireless manner, may well tackle the corresponding challenges.

Global broadband sites using wireless backhaul technology will reach 62 percent of the total by 2023, according to an industry report.

As a new spectrum technology, terahertz communication can provide larger transmission bandwidth and meet higher-speed transmission requirements, and it has gradually become one of the key technologies of 6G communication, according to CASIC.

Eventually, the peak rate of 6G communication will reach 1Tbps, and it is necessary to further improve the utilization rate of existing spectrum resources to achieve higher wireless transmission capabilities, experts said.

In the future, this technology can also serve the field of short-distance broadband transmission of 10 meters to 1 kilometer, providing support for high-speed transmission in lunar exploration, fire detection landers and cruisers, cableless bus transmissions inside aerospace vehicles and other aerospace applications, the statement said.

Moreover, the new technology will provide information support for China's deep space exploration and the research and development of new spacecraft.

China unveiled a plan on Wednesday that aims to promote the culture of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) among the public.

The plan, jointly issued by eight government organs, outlines 12 tasks in the promotion of TCM culture, including strengthening the protection and conservation of TCM classics and establishing a national digital TCM museum.

It also calls for launching various forms of activities to boost TCM culture among students and promote diversified products to facilitate TCM cultural exchanges with other countries.

A total of 50 national-level venues for experiencing TCM culture will be established, according to the plan.

China’s OLED display panel shipments is expected to surge 40% in 2023 as phone makers upgrade to high-end screens

China’s shipments of organic light-emitting diode(OLED) panels are set to jump by 40 percent this year as more Chinese smartphone brands shift to the high-end screens, according to research firm Sigmaintell.

More than 220 million Chinese OLED display panels will be shipped this year, accounting for 38 percent of the world’s total and up 10 percentage points from 2021, Chen Jun, chief analyst at Sigmaintell, told Yicai Global.

Chinese handset giant Xiaomi released its latest flagship model on April 18, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, which has a flexible OLED screen made by Shenzhen-based TCL China Star Optoelectronic Technology(TCL华星光电技术). Huawei Technologies’ nova 11 series, which was released a day earlier, also has a flexible OLED display, provided by TCL CSOT and Beijing-based Visionox(维信诺), reported Yicai Global.

TCL Technology, the parent company of TCL CSOT, told investors in March that its share of the OLED display market was rising, gaining more customers who upgrade their products to the mid- and high-end levels.

Another leading Chinese panel company BOE Technology(京东方) shipped flexible OLED displays 30 percent more to 80 million last year. Its first quarter shipment achieved 30 million and the company aims to reach 120 million by the end of the year, reported Yicai Global.

A last month report by Omdia shows that Samsung accounted for 56 percent of the global market for small and medium-sized OLED panels last year. BOE overtook LG Display to take second place, with their market shares at 12 percent and 11 percent respectively. Visionox ranked fourth with 6 percent and Shanghai-based Everdisplay Optronics(上海和辉光电) was fifth with 5 percent.

iF Design awards for foldable phones
Both Huawei P50 Pocket and Mate Xs 2 were recognized as the best foldable phone design for the 2023 awards.
Huawei P50 Pocket Series is a foldable phone that features the most seamless and airtight vertical fold ever seen on a device. The next-generation waterdrop-shaped Multi-Dimensional Hinge uses Huawei’s exclusive Multi-Dimensional Lifting mechanism, and the hidden open-and-shut design on both sides of the hinge seals off the screen to prevent foreign objects from infiltrating and damaging it.
Huawei Mate Xs 2 is the world’s lightest foldable phone with a 255g body. The 5.4 mm unfolding thickness is only half of the thickness of conventional smartphones. A pioneering Double-rotating Falcon Wing Hinge ensures the product’s ultra-flat experience. Coupled with the first adaptive UI engine, the product makes the ecological application perfectly presented on its large screen.
