New Type98/99 MBT thread

Hmmm dont no why everyone keeps saying things about the Type 99 shot trap issue. To hit the spot its is both hard to penetrate and difficult. That area armour is pretty much thicker then the rest. Only issue which I think should be fixed is the slow acceleration of the Type 99 taking 12 seconds to reach 0-32km/h much slower than the South Korean counterpart taking 7 seconds. With 5 seconds difference you couldv'e evaded enemy fire by then with the extra speed.

?! Where'd you get that information? 1500hp may not be torque, but for such a high powered diesel machine, its torque should be enough to accelerate at a good pace.

Then as someone else said, tanks usually aren't really required to run fast, especially during battle.

With modern KE penetrators, they don't tend to ricochet like the old AP rounds do.

Both engines are 1500HP but the Korean counterpart is heavier yet having faster acceleration time...0-32km/h in 12 second is fairly slow

To me it looks more like a new version of type 96. Coz you can see there is a bar cross the frond of the tank which is the same as type 96. However on the type 99 there isn't a such bar.

It is Type 99. Just with different armor.

I don't know. I still think it's type 96 rather than type 99. Coz the front end doesn't look like type 99, more like type 96.
