The only true all welded turret configeration is the T-90M correct?
Not quite. T-90SA also, and there are some claims that since 1999 Russian T-90 have welded turrets as well. There is no accurate information on this.
Russia uses a casting and welding process for their turret models like the T-90S series.
Actually there are only two turret choices for T-90:
-all-welded obiekt 187 turret
-all-cast T-72B turret
There are no combined versions.
By the way, "S" stands for the export version.
Kontakt 5 came out on the ealier version T-72 BM and T - 90
So?
you do not think that Russia has upgraded to Kaktus armor protection levels for their very own T-90S tanks.
Kaktus was never meant for T-90, it was designed for future tanks like T-80AT.
Russia may not be mass producing Relict armor but I do not see why they would not sell the technology to other countries.
I would still like to see the source.
Ukraines (Knife armor) approach is reportely able to stop the latest DU armor penetrators, I have my doubts, the rounds like DM53/63 could be in trouble though.
You probably do not know, but those rounds do not differ that much. The only DU piece in M829A3 is it's penetrator, which is nearly bullet-sized, the steel-made tail is still vulnerable.
Again, this era has a chance to "defeat" anything given that there is some armor behind. Otherwise it will be useless against M823 and DM53 alike.

Interesting. I did not know this. Is this typical for APFSDS rounds?

Back to the Chinese tanks:
caption reads Chinese improved 3rd generation MBT. Not certain if this is a 99 mod or something for export.

It is exactly typical for APFSDS rounds, however i must admit i do not have information on M829A3 specifically. But i assume it shouldn't have revolutionary improvements, at least judging by it's performance.

Wow, something new. Both turret and gun are from 99, glacis looks 99 too, but engine more resembles 90, and this ERA... It looks like the old one similar to blazer, that was used on 59D

biggest question, can ERA and composite armour plate defeat new generation tandeem HEAT warhead?
It depends on warhead. In some cases sandwich alone would be enough.

Its very interesting to say the least. For me it looks like another 99 mod. Since China is mentioned, I don't think this is for the Al Khalid/MBT 2000. I think the ZTZ-99 turret can be reshaped anyway they want by the arrangement of the modular armor and the reshape of the ERA bricks.

Chinese Tanks

I don't know what types of tanks China has, but I do know they have over 7000 tanks while the U.S. has over 5000 M1A1/A2 Abrams tanks.:coffee:

Re: Chinese Tanks

China's pride is the ZTZ-99, the new mainstay tank is the 96, while huge numbers remain of everything from Type 85III to Type 59II. China's total tank force is huge, but its modern tank force is only modest in comparison.

So what do you think if 5000 U.S. tanks went up against around 7500 Chinese tanks.:coffee:
