The geography of Tibetan plateau has many flat lands, which is very different from the Indian side of the Himalaya. There are many roads in Xinjiang and Tibet at above 4,000 to 5000 metres. Tanks can be driven up to some of the borders.

We have seen some of PLA's tanks in photo and video at the line of control in the mountain during the last confrontation with India.

Himalaya base camp is located at altitude of 5,150 metre (16,900 ft), and is accesable by normal cars via Highway 318. South of Himalaya in Nepal, the only access is by trekking.
That's what I'm saying: movement limited to roads. Cannot really do any offensive maneuvers.
