judging by how flat the "base" of the commander sight is and how short the LWS is. could be a mock up?

(see how the base of the commander sight is fatter and less stubby the LWS is?)

yeah but thats the ocean. it fell off a boat? iirc they'd transport tanks by inland train, not an ocean transport?

maybe it fell off during a beach landing exercise?
hard to say exactly what it was, but yes seems likely, or when loading onto a transport ship? These type of things happen pretty regularly during training.

As a suba diver, I would say this type 98 tank is in the sea water with about 20 feet visibilty and a depth of around 40 to 60 feet judging by the lighting condition. And the sediment and soft coral on the tank meant this tank has been in the seabed for at least 10 years or more. This indicate the location is no where in a port (for loading tanks onto the ship) where water visibility is usualy zero to 5 feet or so.

Thus very unlikely it was accidently fell into the sea while being loaded onto a landing ship. And also if it fell off at a port, it would be quite easy to recover the tank by divers and cranes.

The possibilities are:-
1) it is a fake photo
2) it is a mock-up in a diving spot
3) it is a write-off type 98 (may be a proto-type?) donated to a diving spot of a certain city.
