I am reminded of the similar exchanges in the 09 parade, where Hu would said "Greetings Comrades" and the troops would say "Greetings General Secretary", then followed by "comrades have worked hard" and "we serve the people". However I noticed that the second part of the exchange was absent when he reviewed female troops. I think this is to prevent people from making jokes about it, so I think a lot of attentions went into the various details and likely scenarios responses in planning of such an event.

Is the lence on top of the main gun some type of new range-finder, or laser dazzler?

Does anyone know if NORINCO is still producing the Type 96 MBT. Or is the Type 99A2 the only tank they produce these days. I know there is a light version of the Type 99 MBT.

I don't think there is a consensus on what the optic above the main gun is yet. the box like device on top of the gun mounted optic seems to be present on all new PLA combat vehicles including Type-99A, Type-04 IFV, HJ-10 missile vehicle.

Maybe it is part of friend/foe identification system, since it seems to be looking along where the gun barrel is pointed at, to prevent friendly fire.
