I think your over dramatizing. The Amount of Uranium-238 in Depleted uranium is less then that of Naturally occurring Uranium.

Correction: the bulk of natural Uranium is U238 and it contains 0.7% U235. DU contains less U235 so more U238.

100% agree. China doesn't need fancy super expensive M1A2 or Leo 2A6. Type 99A2 may not be as good as those two best tanks, but 99A2 is extremely good, at least 90% as good as M1A2 with only 1/3 or even 1/4 the price ... so much better value

2 Type 99A2 would beat a single M1A2 or Leo 2A6 anytime (all other scenarios are the same), especially on China soil.

I don't see any land war invasion on China soil in a foreseable future ..... just impossible to imagine

I Don't think the Aim is to try and throw the 99A2 to the wolves just yet.
I believe the Chinese Intend to use the Type 99 we see today as simply the seed. I believe that as time goes forward they intend to keep modifying it as technology becomes available. This will I believe include more comprehensive composite armor, Remote weapons stations, Active defense systems, engine improvements, and Signiture reduction retrofits like BAE Adaptiv. Technologies now emerging in the West with likely deployment in the next decade I figure the PLA is looking to emulate and integrate.
Remember the First Gen Leopard 2 tanks were deployed with spaced and perforated armor until a number of generations in. and Abrams had a 105mm main gun. So deploying a incomplete system is not unheard of.

I think the price of a single type 99 is 2 million? the abrams costs on todays dollar value 8 mill....

but type 99 has protection systems like hard and soft kill and laser dazzler. abrams did not have this, but the abrams has better armour i think (DU layer and ceramics like boron carbide and silicium carbid). the type 99 uses al2o3ceramics and ERA

And has used the AN/VLQ-6 Missile Countermeasure Device which is a softkill IR system to interfear with some ATGM's.
It does lack a laser Dazzler.

We need something like the Iron Fist active countermeasure. I don't believe any US tanks are equipped with similar hard kill system is there?

There is development of some American ADS like Iron curtain and the US has tested Trophy on a Stryker. To date however I have not heard of any Abrams with a hard kill, but Remember the M1E3 is still in the pipeline so things can change. part of the hold was FCS was supposed to include Quick kill APS but when FCS got canned the baby and the bath water.

are there any photos of a prototype the type 99KM? i hear the tank will be 75 ton heavy??

TerraN_EmpirE the improvements of the M1A3 are only improved suspension, new 120mm gun, precision guided weapons, fiber optic lines ,a new track, infrared cameras and a new internal computer system.
