So I take it that you're an "original colonist". Interesting. And even more interesting, you had relatives that fought and died in every US war (I'm assuming most of them died due to the "cannon fodder" remark.) Even obscure ones, like the war of 1812 and the Mexican American war and the Spanish American War. If so, that's cool. The only claim that I can make like that is that my great-uncle was in the 1916 Easter Rebellion in Ireland. He died, of course. (At least he probably was...I'm almost sure and have a lot of circumstantial evidence.)

Just want to introduce myself as a new member. I am a frequent reader of the sinodefence.com website. Having spent a good half of my life in China, I am a native Chinese. My main interest is with the tactical and strategic significance of wars. Cheers.:nana:

Thanks for your warm welcome. I have read most of your posts on these boards and I see we disagree on a great many things. I also see you are a good chap and look forward to debateing and discussing these things with you.
Cannon fodder means- you are just some low ranking enlisted or conscripted person who is used at the Generals whim. Some times you are just used by the General to keep the opposing side busy by blowing you up so he then can do something brilliant on the other side. It doesnt always mean you die- only that you are expendable (a tool to be used).
I wouldnt call the war of 1812 and the Spanish American war as obscure. The Spanish American war most surely- America turned into a global power taking over many of Spains territorys all across the globe. America now turns into a major power in the far east sitting up a conflict with Japanes plans of exspansion in WW2.
Hmmm! This is an introduction board- and I dont want to get in trouble here so I will also say I am learning to play the guitar and my favorite computer game is Harpoon 2.

Whoa, it sure took me a while to read all the intros, and i did read each one. I've been lurking around sinodefence for almost 2 and a half years, but for some reason only had 3 posts on another id. So after reading all the intros from you guys who have been here for all this time, i realised i just couldn't get away without telling you guys a little about myself.

I'm 23 and i live in Xi'an China. i study international trade, ( more english less trade) at Xián Foriegn langueges university , but i wishe i were an engineer like most of you guys too, but getting into college in china is still pretty tough. I lived in Dubai, UAE and Muscat, Oman for 5 and 1 years respectively and studied in Indian schools for high school in both countries during those times.

I 've always been interested in world millitary matters esspecially those that have to do with china, cause i'm chinese, and also cause china is increasingly becoming a more important member of the world economically and millitary wise.

Ifound the site on google searching for pics of Type 96 mtb and fell in love with it cause of the professionalism and non nationalism ( most of the times ) of the site. Also the site provides an oppotunity for me to tell people ,who are interested in China but don't have a clue about it, more about what China is like to a Chinese living in China :roll:
