Yep. Worked in the Bomb Dump handling/assembling/storing/transporting Mk 82's, Mk 84's, Mk 20 Rockeyes, CBU-52/-58/-71, CBU-87's, CBU-89's, and various other missiles, ammo, flares, etc. I enjoyed the work and you meet some of the most interesting people in the military :D

Oh..Ooooo..You make my little heart go pitter pater:D ...Basically what you discribed is what an avation ordanceman does in the USN except we have to load them also....including mines, torpedos and nuke weapons when the USN deployed on CV's...That stopped in'87.

MK 84 makes a nice crater. Oh yea....I once saw a Mk 84 dropped from a A-7B Corsair sink an old USN Gearing class destroyer with a direct hit amidship..right in the middle for you non USN types...And get this, It was an unguided gravity drop. That was in January 1973....

A-7D's were some of the first aircrat I provided munitions support to. This was at Davis-Monthan AFB in the late 1970's. I think the USAF's "D" version was similar to the Navy's "E", except ours were painted in a green/brown camoflage pattern and there were probably some small detail differences. In USAF service it was nicknamed the "SLUF".

SLUF...Slow, Low, Ugly F****r..right? In the USN we called them People Eaters..because of the close confines on an carrier more than one sailor was sucked into that low intake. All in all it was an reliable aircraft.
