When use the WS-10A instead of AL-31FN ,the cost will be lower a bit.

R&D cost is not included in the total cost of the aviation company ,so the wages of engineers will not be involved .

The cost of machines like the expensive computer controlled precision milling machine can not be reduced significantly ,maybe the cost of some softwares can be reduced .

Manufacturing labour is much cheaper in China :
For one thing ,the living cost in China is much cheaper.
For another ,this workers will work day and night ,the working time is much longer than their western counterpart .

And because they now must produce the J-10 as quickly as possible ,some other cost can be saved .

So ,in my opinion ,the cost of J-10 is less than 25 million dollars ,maybe just 21 million dollars ,but 10 million dollars is impossible .

But why they produce the J-10 so quickly ?Maybe the quantity of J-10 now is already 180 .

But to produce more is not a problem ,they can sell some ,a lot of countries want it .

If J-14 is finished ,because of its high price ,the PLAAF will not deploy so many ,maybe 500 ?

I think 800 J-10 are needed .

OK, cool down. I think we can wait and see. I think we're all here to see things with hard proof rather than just speculation.

The empty weight of J-10 ,the quantity of J-10 that will be deployed ,and the correct cost of J-10 .I think hard proof about this is nearly impossible to get.

But the scope of this date can be infered from some sources .

Why NASA don't send spaceflight with brand new computers?



The European Space Agency have the ability to compete with NASA.They had the ability to send a man to the space before China,though they didn't.



I don't dare to say how cheap is J-10 in chinese forum.the government can find me any time.
In chinese forum,there are just a few experts and they don't dare to say the truth too.So the informations there are not reliable too.

And a lot of things in china is not like what had been publicized.The top research institutions all had been disguised.

1) do you know a lot about ordnance engineering?
(and is it usual that university students get told top secrets?)
2) yea, the whole of western europe vs. one developing country....
3) hey, you know i know the true cost of j-10 too and i go to PLAAU (pla aeronuatics university) in xinjiang. but i can't tell you guys any facts cause then my government will trace my IP and assasinate me.

where exactly did you guys hear that 800 j-10 are going to get deployed? does anybody know the current production rate of j-10's? (so then we could sort of work out the length of time that j-10's are gonna be deployed)

I'm closing this thread for one day. Why? To much childish chatter. The J-10 is an excellent topic for discussion. It is important part of the PLA arsnel. Lets not trivialize it with nonsense, slight handed personal attacks and claiming to be someone you clearly are not. You new members need to go back through this thread and read the postings of crobato ,tphuang, steelbird and others to see what we expect in a thread.
