BYD just dropped a "nuclear bomb" on ICE cars between CNY100K~150K in China, Qing PLUS DM-i 2023 Championship Edition, which squarely targets the core segment of Toyota, Honda, Nissan, GM and VW.

Now I think that is one of the secret weapons with which BYD was claiming to sell 4 million cars in China 2023. If it turns out to be as good as it advertises, it can easily sell 1 million units per year in China alone.
I just talked about it on this page. I don't know if it's going to easily sell 1 million unit this year since the production priority is given to song, yuan and dolphin family first.

It's so incredibly value for money it has the ability to completely decimate Corolla, Sylphy, Lavida, Bora, the four models that dominate the 10w segment

But that's only if they produce enough of it. I don't think it will be high production given the margins are probably very low.

Production will catch up over time as BYD already has around 4M production capacity either constructed or under construction. Like Han and Yuan before this new Qing, when reputation-from-mouth is established, this market segment will never be the same. Simply, on paper for now, there are no ICE equivalent models from JVs that can compete head-on with this new Qing model. Majority of new car buyers in China will have BYD to thank for years to come.

Indian media is going crazy over a supposed 6 million tonnes of lithium (ore?) discovered in Kashmir

How significant is this? I have no idea how much it actually means, or whether it'll be commercially viable, how many years to set up mines etc

that actually would be quite a bit. Bolivia has the largest lithium reserve in the world and they have 21 million tons.

According to this one, China had 4.5 million ton (number 6) as of 2020

On the other hand, a major lithium deposit was found in the Himalayas last year

Anytime you are dealing with high up in the mountains like the Himalayas or Kashmir, extraction is actually very problematic. So, I would say that this is good for India, but it might take years before this is commercialized. At this point, we really don't know how things will look in the battery industry by 2030. Other resources like copper, iron, phosophate and graphite are also quite important

Lithium-air battery has four times the energy density of lithium-ion and is equivalent to gasoline. We can forget about lithium-sulphur or zinc air.

China's research is probably not far behind the latest in the world, but do we have any news?
