New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China

What are people's thoughts on BYD's domination of the Chinese NEV market? I think it'll be close to 40% market share in August. Will it keep going up and is this a good or bad thing long term?

For me I hope it doesn't turn into too much of a monopoly and that some of the other carmakers can catch up. Of course I hope BYD continues to be successful but it's good to have a healthy amount of competition.

BYD needs to dominate worldwide. It still has a lot of work to do outside China.

BYD Xia. This looks like a down-grade Denza D9 to me.

I always wanted a minivan. I test-drove Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country (Lee Iacocca invented minivan segment), Honda Odyssey, Toyota Previa, Toyota Sienna, etc. BYD Xia with DMi 5.0 and HW ADS 3.0 (vision-only for defensive driving and parking) at RMB 250K would be a killer minivan in any market. I would certainly want one to replace my SUV (a true body-on-frame)

CATL plans to build 10,000 battery swapping stations eventually, and 3,000 by the end of 2027. In comparison, Nio has built 2,500 so far. They should coordinate their efforts so their swapping stations will be compatible with each other.

Geely's EV divisions are doing well recently.

Mercedes-Geely's Smart #5 battery EV is a potential competitor of Tesla Model Y. It will enter European markets next year. It has a 800V architecture and can charge from 10-80% in 15 minutes.
