Not sure if this data has already been posted, BYD's sales in Thailand from January to May were up 38.6% y/y. Can they keep up with the Japanese brand?View attachment 132560
Depends on how the Thai market reacts to the price cuts. They angered a lot of old buyers and out off a lot of prospective buyers from that move.

But I still think economics will prevail and sales will grow

Japanese are very Conservative and nationalistic..lol very few foreign brands dominate Japan's market.

Off topic, but the Japanese myth of Made in Japan is so powerful that a change of mind won't happen until the next MacArthur appears. However, made in Japan was synonymous with cheap until the 1960s, and that changed in the 1970s when Japanese companies began to focus on quality control and technological innovation to produce high quality products. This may be similar to what is happening in China today.

Why did Huawei just sell the Aito brand to Seres?
According to Yu chengdong, regulations require that manufacturer of a car brand must own that brand.

I guess this regulation is only about EVs? Otherwise, Apple would have to pass the brand to Foxconn. Or the key definition is who designes the car, Huawei doesn't design the car except its "smart" part.

Not sure. We are getting this information third hand. I think it is all vehicles not just EVs. AITO has ICE models, right?

You probably missed “car brand” in my previous post.
