registration from this week. Great numbers for BYD and Tesla. I think Tesla had a lot of orders from previous weeks which got delivered/caught up this week

Australian auto market in May. BYD now at 5.5% market share overall

BYD vertical integration is just outstanding, going all the way down to material science

Wang Chuanfu is pretty much the polar opposite of Musk. He is a really down to earth guy who eats quietly in a corner in the company cafeteria and doesn’t really brag or flaunt anything.

"Yangwang U7, with 4-wheel steering, has a slightly smaller turning radius than the subcompact Seagull."

Not to rain on any parades, but 4-wheel steering has been around for quite a while, first appearing on production vehicles in the 1980s. Here's a good summary from Autoweek from 2015:

. It was even an option (called "Quadrasteer") on certain GM pickup trucks and SUVs in the early 2000s. And it's on the Mercedes EQS EV, which was released in 2021.

That said, I really like the looks of the U7.

That's just how most Chinese are in general. The flamboyant types like Jack Ma are very unusual. Compare the brash Oppenheimer to humble Deng Jiaxian. Both had key roles in the development of their countries' nuclear weapons but their characters were diametrically opposite.

I think this is an East Asian cultural trait in general. Westerners are much more individualistic.

I don't think anyone is saying it is a new technology, just that it is what enables that tight turning radius
It was also available on the Nissan R32 Skyline GTR, some Acuras
Available now on the VW group Taycan/e-Tron GT twins

It's quite condescending of you to think that you need to explain that to us, let alone @tphuang
