For those unaware, the Mini Cooper was a British car manufactured from 1959-2000 before it was acquired by BMW and with an all-new design in 2000. Even or perhaps especially under BMW, Mini leans heavily into its heritage as expression of British popular culture, including "Union Jack"-pattern taillights in recent years. This 2024 EV model will be the fourth generation of the BMW-era Minis and obviously the first to be done in collaboration with GWM.

It's better to adapt the old design and digitized it for aesthetic purposes cause the new interior looks ugly.
a look at the smaller SUV market in China that Song family has dominated. Expect major refresh next yr imo.
not just that, I think Tang & Han need to be refreshed too
heavy duty truck electrification is still quite low but maybe accelerating once BYD's new blade battery for commercial vehicles with 10000 charge cycles start delivery

By the way, when is BYD(if ever) releasing a 800v-1200v EV platform for their cars? Because IMO, charging speed is the most lacking in BYD cars compared to other brands. Their best cars can only charge up to 150kW with a single charger compared to 200-300+kW in Xpeng, Tesla, Hyundai, Kia etc.
probably next year. The issue is that there aren't that many fast chargers in China and they are just getting slowly replaced now. So 800V platforms aren't exploitable until that is deployed
Smart of VW. Mercedes should've explored the Nio tie-up more IMO, it'll be much more expensive later if not too late by then. Would be a mutually beneficial tie-up.
