Sales for Mitsubishi in China have been sluggish due to the popularity of electric vehicles and the rise of local brands. GAC Mitsubishi Motors has a factory in Hunan province. The company has halted production since March and will not resume operations.
Nice. BYD and other electric automakers will pick up these stranded assets on the cheap.

lol, so i didn't actually expect this, but someone pointed out U8 is basically the ideal car for the Cartel

over 600 BYD cars delivered in Brazil on 23rd! including 122 Seal. That's huge. Brazil's demand for BYD cars is pretty high

weekly registration broken down by models. BYD dominating in sedan/hatchback & SUVs
Galaxy L7 basically has been muted by Song family

Leopard 5 has rolled off production line

as for Mitsubishi, this is just the beginning. Just a matter of time before honda and nissan exits china. Maybe Nissan before end of this year

Mitsubishi has been in a death spiral for sometime except in emerging world regions.

It would be awesome if someone in the auto industry in China have painted victory markings on a domestic car for the foreign brands that have conceded.

I think the limits on foreign investments in automobile joint ventures have been abolished since 01/01/2022. The West were clamoring for this and they got their wish.

In fact the foreign partners of the JV were salivating at this prospect. But since then with the rise of EV sales, the market in China has fallen out for the legacy automakers and I think they are not so keen anymore to take 100 % stake in the JV.
Another reason is that many local partners are unwilling to sell their stake because it is a cash cow for them. If I'm not wrong BAIC/Mercedes and GAC/FCA are such examples
