Yet another sour article on China from Bloomberg. Totally out of touch. It sounds as if Chinese gov was intentionally obstructing big techs into the EV sector, which is far from the reality. They are late to the party at their own expenses. They can put down big cash to acquire small fishes in a red-sea market. Or they can get used to be bystanders. Nobody is going to wait for them, certainly not the governments.

The Electric Viking: the CEO of VW just said the other day that Europe was under zero threat from China's automakers. But August turns out to be the best month for BYD, Nio, MG, and GWM in Germany ever so far.

BYD is confident to export 250,000 passenger vehicles this year and it will decide the location of its first factory in Europe before the end of this year. BYD probably will build quite a few factories overseas in the coming years except in the US.

Lynk 08 is coming online with China's first auto grade 7nm SoC called 龙鹰一号

Although based on the numbers, it does 90k DMIPS + 8 TOPS, it's inferior to other Chinese SoC like Rockship 3588 (on 8 nm process) and Kirin 9610A (likely on 12nm process)

Also, falls behind Snapdragon 8155 which came out a few years ago

I'm pretty sad that Changan seems to be going full on into the craze of creating new brands with the new Shenlan, Avatr and Qiyuan brands

Changan was (probably still is) the strongest of the SOEs in terms of brand image because they were known for sticking to their own Changan name and logo, with the exception of Oshan

Avatr is fine considering the special joint venture with CATL and Huawei but I have no idea whose great idea it was to create Shenlan and Qiyuan, two value-less brands that should've been just a new lineup under Changan branding, like the KTV series
