How come tesla is still selling their cars well in the US?
Telsa cuts prices. Legacy automakers refuse to engage in price wars. Another thing is many legacy automakers have cut their ICE vehicle production over the years so their ICE vehicles have been able to raise prices and command hefty profits to offset any losses from EVs.

i'm not sure how this is going to change much of anything. At the end of the day, automakers have to cut prices if they want to sell. And I'm not really sure how this is huge ev news

I think it means they acknowledge current price is sufficient to outcompete legacy auto regardless of their price. There is no point lower any further except damaging each other. Legacy auto cannot sustain lowering price further without incurring heavy loss.
