Disappointed to see there's no NIO or XPENG. I prefer looking at core BEV sales. But even if we widen the net to include plug-in hybrids, little is changing:

Unless both brands can turn things around rather quickly, things for them look a bit grim.

NIO in particular has pretty good tech.

P.S. Lithium is now increasing again.

Maybe a sign that demand is finally firming up.

Lithium prices rose by about 50% in just a month? And it fell by more than 50% over a 2 month period.
Isn't that super volatile and is that normal?

  • Geely will acquire a 17 per cent stake in Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings to become UK sports car maker’s third largest shareholder
  • Aston Martin’s shares rise as much as 25 per cent in early trading in London

A reversal from December 2022, when Stroll tried to stop Geely from getting more shares.

I personally think this is a mistake. The appetite for grand tourers is lessening as the world goes crazy for 4x4s and millions are being paid in 'sponsorship fees' to an F1 team so that Stroll's son can race competitively. Aston Martin itself is a financial black hole that has gone bankrupt on so many occasions and as the article notes, has cashflow woes yet again. Without the Stroll consortium ceding majority control and the entire incumbent management fired so that Geely can have a direct impact on the way it's run, this is just lighting cash on fire
